The Pastry Shop

As Gordon Ramsay says at the end of each episode of Kitchen Nightmares, "What a day!"

It's not always fun to wake up at 4am in the mornings for work. For me, it never is. It's like a constant battle with myself to be on time, not be embarrassed by getting late. But there's something worse than that - your super important work getting cancelled.

So this is what happened at my pastry shop:
Yesterday:

Customer: I need a cake.

Me: Alright, what kind of a cake do you want? What time do you want it? Do you need icing on it?

Customer: Ah, alright. I need icing on it. I need it...aaa...at 7 am.

Me: Okay sir, we'll have your cake ready by 6 30 am! Have a great day!

Today (6 30 am, as promised):

Me: Good morning sir, how's it going? Here's your cake!

Customer: Grr...Grr...Where's the icing?

Me: Here it is, exactly how you asked for it!

Customer: What do you mean? Where's the second layer of the cake?

Me: Oops...Second Layer? I was never informed of that! Who did you speak to?

Customer: Aaa...I spoke to ******** (referring to an employee who's been on vacation since 2 months!). He knows everything.

Me: No worries sir, how about this - you keep this cake this at half price this time, and next time, we'll make it a point to make a two layer cake.

Customer: Hmm, where are the mangoes on the cake?

Me: Sir? It's the winter season right now. If you still need mangoes, we'll get some by tomorrow.

Customer: No, I want my mangoes right now!!

Me: Alright, let me try to get some mangoes right now.

Customer: *Throwing a fit* - I want my mangoes now! I want my mangoes now! I am going to another pastry shop! I need my mangoes now! That's how I had it on my birthday 6 years back!

Needless to say, the pastry shop is conducting a super thorough investigation into why the mangoes were not guessed to be on the cake during winter, and why there was a breakdown in communication!

Well, life would have been much less exciting if people asked and got exactly what they wanted! Did I say that life is also about coming across weird people at times? Well, I think I'm in for a ride!
As my friend said, "It's still not time!" :)

The first step!

Alright, so here I am.

Well, a friend of mine told me another friend of his, and I had to share this. I guess it is indeed true - the next best thing to finding a solution to a problem, is to find some humor in it!

"So we had a friend, who'd say...guys, there's always a time to panic...but this is not the time. And every single time we thought things are going bad, horribly bad, we'd shout at him as ask...hey, is it time now? And he'd say, no...it's not time yet...keep going...keep going"

I'm here to share most of my problems, and I hope I just glide and bounce thru them, with lots of humor, which I'd have otherwise not seen.

What I do, is not important. Well, it takes up most of my time, but it's not important. It's just a job. And should just remain one. What's fun in my job though...is travel.

I think travel makes you meet new people, and different people. I think travel changes a person a lot, makes him thing much more sanely. As I go thru the days of my life, I'll share my experiences of travel, fun and most importantly, meeting people!

So here I go...
